Medoraman, what is it for those of us less educated. Is that gold? I see it says Oro which I know means gold...but whats the name of the coin =- )

A couple of Mt. Rushmore pucks, other than that I'm not a huge silver bug. If gold dips below 1200 I'll purchase some low premium gold in bar or European form.

Mexican 50 pesos. Its about 1.2 ounces net weight gold. They first struck them to commemorate the revolution, but continued to restrike them. Ones like mine with the 1947 frozen date were mainly bullion issues made at a later time.

The 50 peso pieces are a great way to buy cheap gold, as they go for spot around here. I just the size of them, maybe one of my favorite coins.

I've picked up quite a bit of stuff

Lots of random 2014 stuff from MCM and Apmex thru their ebay sites.

I like that coin a lot. I don't have the money to buy one of those, but I am looking to buy a 5 pesos gold coin because I like the Mexican gold pesos.

My latest big purchase of silver is the set of 28 Canadian uncirculated $5 and $10 coins for the Montreal Olympics issued from 1973-1976. They normally sell for around the silver bullion value totaling just over 30 ounces.

Nothing for me - too much high interest debt to pay off first. :( Should be getting some ASE for Christmas though.

I just picked up two of these, 5oz. Philly minted Mount Rushmore pucks,
the day before they sold out.
Of course now the US Mint keeps pushing the delivery day back and the last time that happened with one of my orders they ended up cancelling it, Grrrrrrr....

Also picked up both Canadian $100 for $100, 13' and 14' from the bay today, original packaging, can't wait to see them, really, really like the bison design!

I have been at these for a while. They actually started in Zambia from 2999-2003 then went to Somalia. There are a bunch of types. Proofs, BUs, BUs gold plated, colored and sets. All made by a German mint for Zambia/Somalia. Love the coins.

Bought a 2014 Silver Kookaburra 1oz. and a 7.1 gram gold nugget. The nugget is my first. Still scooping up all the Good - Very Good full rim barber coinage I can find at a good price. Still looking for a nicely toned graded 1895 O Morgan XF to complete my toned Morgan Date Set. Staying away from new mint products. Had plans to get some other things but had to give $1,400.00 to the vet to keep my dog "Freddy" (pictured on left) in good health. Kidney problems. But....when ya love em, what can ya do? He's doing great now.

Collecting cool old coins is fine, if you're content with collecting coins that don't see much price movement in the short run - I collect old coins as well. However, most of my profits come from modern mint products, which offer some equally cool coins, some that see huge short term profits, as well as great long term potential. Granted, there are modern “dogs”, the key is to pick the winners. During this time of record low mintage modern coins, there are many potential winners out there.

I just bought this mint state Fat Man:

    http://www.cointalk.com/threads/your-newest-foreigh-acquisition.165399/page-200

I consider it a semi-numismatic buy. It has a good amount of silver and it is highly collectible. It was pricey, but man am I still high from it. This goes along with my BRICS semi-numismatic strategy (allocating about 20% into BRICS coins, especially Chinese). I also feel safe buying slabbed Chinese coins.

Nice coins coming your way! You have to wait for them to get the 2014 eagle, I've been waiting on 3 orders I placed on Dec 16, 21, 23 from Provident I guess they have short staff :(
