Who pioneered CNC hub making?

    The book that comes with the UHR Double Eagle emphasizes how the Mint switched from using the venerable Janvier reducing lathe to using a progression of computerized numerically controlled cutters to make the master hubs (yes, plural). The US Mint doesn't seem to be a technology leader most of the time, so: who did it first?

    well,i've been running CNC's for 30 years so there's been plenty of dies of different things made.

    They usually don't tell you. The US Mint switched over in the past few years, but I can't tell you the exact date.
