What happened here

    So I found this quarter in my pocket change today and the first thought that came to mind is someone trying to create a fake. what is your opinion?

    Looks like this coin was exposed to high heat at some point.

    Agree. Heat damage after it left the mint

    Correct. Extreme heat to the clad cause that appearance.

    It could have been buried in the ground and run over by something also.

    It is definitely post mint damage.

    Could have been in the cup holder of the carbecue I saw last night
