This is interesting if it happens. I don't know if the proposed UN bullion coins will be available to the public. http://current.com/items/91765876_un-to-produce-bullion-coins-as-world-currency.htm
HI cloudsweeper, Yeah, I just saw it on another site today. Related story: http://www.gold.org/news/2009/12/16/story/13674/gold_coins_to_bear_the_un_logo/ Works for me. There's long been talk about a petro dollar or perhaps the gold dinar. The IMF is wired to the US so I wouldn't do it, but the United Nations could start doing it on a small scale and be in place should the need arise for some other int'l currency. curiouser and curiouser, rono QUOTE=Cloudsweeper99;771550]This is interesting if it happens. One of the articles cites a "UN announcement" but doesn't provide a link, and nothing relevant shows up on the obvious searches at un.org. Another article makes it sound like this is no more than the UN taking a fee for letting bullion coin producers use its design.
If nothing else it will bring bullion back into the spotlight for a while, maybe sending bullion prices on a rocket ride, maybe not,but it could easily happen.
