Went out shopping yesterday and picked up a few specimens: Russian, German, Filipinas, and also some Large Cents. Here's a 1903 50 Centavos that I picked up. Even with a bit of what appears to be an environmental issue on its obverse surface, I'm very pleased with the grade and condition of the specimen. Any thoughts?
Can't tell from the photos, but it sure looks like that might be a proof example, is that right?? Not sure what's going on in the right obverse, but it almost looks like cleaning in the left obverse. Love the design of these though.
It was in a cardboard flip. And based on its surfaces, I don't think it's a proof. Others more adept with U.S. Sovereignty Philippines coinage may know better. The obverse right appears to have some environmental damage; it appears in hand to be the result of having been stored in an older flip. I too love the designs; to me U.S. Philippines coinage are all beautiful. Here is an example of a 1903 proof specimen:
if you look, the proof coin has a diff face as the regular issue.and the inner reading edge is diff too.nice pickup
