Today is the Ides of March.

It has been 2,061 Years since the Assassination of Gaius Julius Caesar...

There are always TWO sides of the story... So, feel free to post any Julius Caesar coin, Brutus coin, or any coin that is related to this era in Human History!

Fascinating that the first Consul of the Roman Republic was a Brutus, and one of the Assassins of the Dictator who ushered in the Roman Empire was a Brutus... almost 500 years of Republic...

PILE 'EM ON, Friends, Romans, COUNTRYMEN!

Venus as an important type on the coinage lived on long after JC claimed her as an ancestor.

Here she is over 125 years after his assassination.

Titus' Venus is somehow much more pleasing to my eyes than Caesars'. :D

I'll contribute two denaii of Decimus Junius Brutus (A. Postumius Albinus after adoption) and distant cousin to Marcus Brutus (and even to Caesar)----'or so it is written' ;) This 'other' Brutus was a major player in the assassination.

I like the photos with pertinent information on the image. The way I keep images on a Nook for reference at shows makes this a nice feature but going back and adding it to every coin would be a task. Maybe if I stopped buying coins and typing on CT, I'd have time to do it
