    Interesting. Is this a sophisticated electronic instrument or a piece of plastic? If it's a hunk of plastic the price is prohibative.....

    Curious - if they are selling so well, why doesn't he replenish his stocks?

    It's a piece of plastic. They have rediscovered the the coin testing balances of the 19th century.

    That's the way it looks, but I've never heard of anybody marketing something like this before.

    I have they show up as a "great new counterfeit detection tool" every so often and are sold to the "The sky is falling" gold bugs who don't really know what they are buying, just that they were told they shold buy gold. They buy their gold, then they hear a couple stories about counterfeits, and then they sell them these things. They do work, if you are only buying standard weight gold coins and you are only concerned about the gold content.
