I thought it would be fun if members would like to name some phrases, songs, movies or tems in which money or coins are mentioned. For example: 'This little penny'(song). 'The nickel ride'(movie). 'Wouldnt give a plugged nickel'(phrase). If this has been threaded before, sorry. Anyone else?
I have heard the phrase "Stand on your head and spit wooden nickels..." when I was a kid looking for something to do.....:smile Or "here is my two cents on that....." Smaugy....
"He/She doesn't have two nickels to rub together" and I think the rest goes ..."or a pot to **** in". But I could be wrong **edit: Ooooo It automatically edited the naughty words, how nice**
Always wondered if the saying "bust your chops" had any refrence to biting a gold or silver coin to see if it was real. Chop marks. Anyone know?
It does not. And chop marks are identifying marks stamped into a coin by Chinese merchants to certify the coins silver content/weight.
