Once again, it’s time for the Santinidollar Contest! The contest will close at 11:59 p.m. CST on Feb. 28

The winter version is offering two prizes.

First prize is the special mint set Kennedy half dollars for 1965 through 1967, in capsules:

Second prize is the special mint set Washington quarters, 1965 through 1967, in coin capsules:

    Here are the rules:

    1. To enter, post a coin, paper money, medal, token etc. that you would be proud to show off. U.S., foreign and ancient entries all welcome. Be sure and put ENTRY POST on your entry.

    2. You are limited to ONE entry post. Multiple entries will all be disqualified.

    3. There will be two winners selected by random number generator. Although the half dollars are listed as the first prize, the initial winner may claim the quarters. In that case, the halves will become the second prize. Contest entries will be designated a number for the drawing in the order they are posted.

    4. Due to postal problems, I have to limit the contest to the 48 contiguous states of the United States. I will pay for shipping and tracking.

    5. I must ask that you have at least 50 coin-related postings to Coin Talk to enter.

    6. In case of disputes, I will ask @lordmarcovan to mediate.

    7. You may designate your prize to a young collector if you choose.

    8. If you are under 18 and live at home, please get your parent or guardian’s permission to enter since I will have to have your address if you win.

    Good luck and have fun!

Thanks very much for your generous contest. Much appreciated.

First coin ever found metal detecting. And I was with my grandson, so it's priceless!

My only counterfeit coin.. Hungarian imitation of a Swedish Livonia coin from 1662-1672. How do I know it isn’t a genuine coin? Among the dates the counterfeiters used was just ‘3’, like this coin here.

Sweden in the 1600s was doing quite well, and Hungarian mints worked to throw off their economy from the outside by introducing less pure, fake coins into circulation.

A somewhat recent purchase of mine from a friend this past December. Needless to say, I have a very fond appreciation of this particular series.

This is the oldest coin I own.

I am very pleased with having bought it raw at a local coin show. Despite the obvious scratch on the obverse, it is a handsome coin for being nearly as old as @GDJMSP Doug's oldest nostril hair.

Thanks @Santinidollar . May your winter be short. I have no idea what your name means, by the way. Laissez les bons temps rouler.

Thank you so much for doing this contest!

If I win I will give the coins to my 3 little nephews who I got into coin collecting!

My favorite puck. They only made the design this way for one year. In following years, much to my dismay, they changed the design so that the coin info would be "more readable" but it took away from the beauty of the thing. It's gorgeous in real life and pictures don't do it justice.

Ever since I bought this one from @C-B-D I have prized this as my most favorite favorite coin and relish any opportunity to show her off.... Thanks for the cool contest @Santinidollar !! If I win it just may motivate me to reinvigorate my stagnant Kennedy book.
