    What is the rhodium from?

  4. Good question I just put it in a case it was given to me its some rock it just was on the bed by mistake sorry. I think it looks shiny like metal but its probably a rock of some sort not a coin I know but I didn't want to insult the person who gave it to me so I keep it. Is it edible like iron?

    Nickel box #14:

Sadly no holes in the album filled, but doesn't mean there weren't some highlights worth mentioning.

Found 2 2009-D nickels, and I'll still save these.
Found a 2005-S Ocean in View proof! Pretty decent condition too.
    Found a 1982 Canadian 5 cents.
Found a 1945-P silver war nickel. Already had one, but these are always keepers!
Found 4 1939's! Sadly not the 1939-S I still need, but I still keep anything from the 1930's.

Have made the "executive decision" I'm no longer bothering to save extra ones from the 1940's and 1950's (unless they're war nickels, key or semi-key dates, proofs, or errors) but I figure they're still at least worth mentioning:
    1946
    1948 x2
    1948-D
    1949
    1951
    1952-S
    1954-S
    1957-D
    1958-D x3

I'm definitely hitting the "law of diminishing returns" when it comes to filling the last spots in the album, but can't get too mad at still finding some interesting ones worth saving!

    The hunt continues...

Congrats on the finds. I assume you’re checking for Henning Nickels before tossing your 40s and 50s?

Been keeping my eye out but as of yet found no evidence I had any of these. There's a few known dates of these to keep your eye out for. 1944 is the easiest to spot because the lack of the large mintmark on the reverse (genuine 1944 should be a war nickel with some mintmark above the dome of Monticello); not sure if it's the most common, but it is the easiest one to spot.

None of them have mintmarks (even though 1944 should!) and the known dates are 1939, 1944, 1946, 1947, and 1953. (Based on Henning's testimony he claimed he made 6 different dies, so there might be a 6th date, but none besides these 5 have been confirmed as of yet.) I always check any of these dates closely! The 1939's and 1 1946 I had in this box all seemed to be genuine.

Had a great day cr hunting. I was able to get my hands on 2 boxes of halves. First box had just one 40%er.
    The second box had 13 40%ers and 6 90%ers.
    2-1964 Kennedy's
2 walking liberty (one was an ender!)
    2- Ben Franklins

A penny box produced six wheaties including a1935-S. That one fills a spot in my collection. I tried another box of dimes. My hunt for silver failed yet again. I settled for a 2009-D.

OK law of diminishing returns has definitely kicked in, but still some things worth mentioning.
Filled a hole for the elusive semi-key 1948-S!
Also got a few really nice upgrades for 1958-D, 1970-D, 1977, 1982-D, 1988-D, and 1990-D. Normally don't care about stuff this recent but seriously, these might have come from mint sets.
Found 2 more 2009-D; still keeping these!

Honorable mentions: Not keeping these anymore, but thought anything pre-1960 is still worth a mention, just so you can tell the "batting average" of these boxes. Still releasing these into the wild, but giving them a mention anyway:
    1940
    1946
    1948 x2
    1949
    1949-D
    1951-D
    1952-D x2
    1953
    1954-D
    1956-D x2
    1957-D x2
    1958-D
    1959-D

Still feel this is worth doing though! The search continues.

I picked up 3 rolls the other day, all Bessie Coleman's. They all had OML but I couldn't upgrade my album coin (scratches, nicks, coin machine abuse).
Had to go to the dentist today and there is a branch across the street so I tried again. This time I got a Jovita Idar ender. This is only the 5th one I have ever seen, and none from reg circ all CRH. Maybe it will upgrade my book, and any other finds (W,S, silver (hah)) will be reported here. Haven't pulled any W's lately but the last S proof I got was a frosty deep cameo which I really like. My favorite pull in many years. I got a new one Mary Edwards Walker in the 2nd roll. It's not MS. I try to get the new ones when they come out, so I can get a coin as close to MS as possible for the album. But they have been dragging here on the new releases. Prob in a month I will get a roll of these and get one for the album.

From searching 5,000 nickels. About 1 buffalo per 105 nickels. Very lucky. The one upside down is a 1918-D in about XF. The three teens at the bottom are all Philly mint. No mint mark on the 1912 Liberty nickel.

So... That's 2 and a half boxes? Or a bank bag of $250? How'd you end up that amount?

I roll hunt outside the U.S. My coins come in bags of 1,000. Nickels are always my best score.

War nickels pulled from 10,000 nickels. 1943-P and 1945-P are up top for variety hunting. The rest is down below.
