I’ve found a few modern holes coins, and find them semi often. Let me know if you need a holed buffalo nickel, or anything modern holed and I’ll set them aside for you.

Thanks. I only do pre-1900 holeys.

Fair enough. Though I just found a holed 1913-S T1 Buffalo nickel… been polished too. Yours for free, if you want it, just let me know.

This is what I found after searching 5,000 nickels. 10,000 to go. Even if I find nothing in the next 10,000, this is probably the best searching ratio I’ll ever see.

Ahh, thanks, but save it for someone who’ll appreciate it more. It wouldn’t fit in my holey 19th Century type set. But someone else might find it a suitable keychain piece, for good luck. :)

(Now, if you happen to have a spare holey Seated dollar around, I need one of those types. I think I have the With Motto but need the No Motto…) ;)

Back to nickels my latest box produced only a few notable scores. Low mintage 1955 from Philadelphia was the best find followed by a 1941-S and two 2009 (a P and a D). The early decade count count revealed two from the 1940s and ten from the 1950s.

I’ve never used nic-a-date. I use vinegar. It’s the mad professor in me. I’ve given away many of such of good finds

Just found a dateless buffalo the other day. Saw the “S" mintmark on the reverse. Used nic-a-date: turns out it was s 1924-s. With only 1.4m minted, it's a semi-key date i didn't have! Right into the book i started for circulation find Buffaloes!

I don’t personally do this with my dateless nickels, but I do keep them when I find them. I found 4-5 D mint dateless ones this go around.

This comes from a purchase of €325 in 5 euro cent coins. Fortunately, the amount still met the €325 it was supposed to, so these are all bonus!

Its been awhile but I found an off metal 1964. I do plan on sending it off to PCGS sometime in the next few days. Just wanted to see if anybody else has found anything similar.

I think it's environmental damage or possibly improperly annealed. Do you have pictures of the whole coin, obverse and reverse? Also, what does it weigh?
