The bank doesn't sell boxes for free anymore :( RIP Free boxes 2012-2017. They still sell rolls with no fee, if they have any. I hope they don't charge me to look in the coinstar reject bin!

    $10 Pennies -
    8 wheats
    3 canadian cents

    $40 Nickels -
    10 pre-60 nickels
    1 canadian

    $70 Quarters
    1964-D

First silver quarter from rolls and third overall. I found one before under a coinstar. The other one I was a impaired silver proof maine quarter. I was about to spend it until my little brother asked me why my quarter had a silver edge. Never knew I could get something from a quarter roll. Before I never really looked through quarter rolls at all. Now if the bank doesn't have much Ill just take quarters. Better than nothing.

I went to the second bank in town. My Sister had the car this morning so I had time to update everything.
I turned one quarter roll to nickels. The other to pennies.
Since in quarters everything I'm needing is silver.
And with 3 exceptions dimes are the same.
I need more than a few clean modern nickels.
And I have a better chance of getting earlier dates in pennies and nickels. So far looked at 5 rolls of nickels.
Updated 2 or 3. Found a nice 99P penny so that's one more down.

Back in 2014 i received a whole box of 2014 cents. Wondering if its getting close to the time for me to search them for varieties, or just sell them roll by roll at a premium. Any thoughts?
On the same note, I've been saving all my state park quarters I get in change, wonder if i should search those too?

IMG_2664.JPG IMG_2665.JPG I bought a roll of steel pennies from Amazon and was very satisfied with what I got. I now have all three mints in decent condition. I also found this penny that looks near mint!

I have not posted in a LONG while but I thought about this thread and I am amazed it is still here after 11 years. Yes, I still roll hunt and after a couple month drought, I found a 2015 S Kennedy and a 1963 D Franklin. The Franklin is BU but unfortunately the Kennedy is now only about PR 58. I do admit I like the high relief of the modern Kennedy half dollars. See below: night1.jpg

Don't reckon on getting to the bank today.

    And five more nickel rolls.

Does anyone here usually ask for 2 dollar bills? I know it's roll searchers but still. Worth giving a try?

I got a 1945 S Jefferson nickel yesterday out of a $100.00 batch of rolls. I also found a few other 40', 50,s and a couple of 70'S and 80'S nickels that were in really good condition . I'll have to put a couple of them under increased scrutiny to see if they are valuable only to me or maybe others.

Really nice finds! Where can you get "boxes" of coins. All my banks around Greenville, SC tell me they can't get them.

I have 25 rolls of uncirculated 2005 Buffalo Nickels. I got them I think in 06 but they have sat in my safe since then. Haven't been touched or searched. I have jitters about opening them up and inspecting them.

51Caveman, Be careful about opening the 2005 buffalo 5 C. Have heard about an error on [I think] 2005-D nickels....called the "spiked buffalo". Die crack, I believe. Do a search on it.

I know.....you want to open then you don't want to open. Been through that too.

Yep! That's the error I would be looking for. Maybe others but the 'spiked or speared" Buffalo seems to be the one that's valuable. What I'm kinda worried about is losing the value of those factory fresh rolls! I haven't looked but they may not be all that valuable in rolls but still......

Coinwoman, mine looks about as good as yours. Hard to compare so I will not say for sure. Sorry about the shadow on the reverse. 001.JPG 002.JPG

I had 22 rolls of statehood quarters [various dates/all P mm] gotten from the banks over the years. I thought the same as you about the value....finally deposited them into personal checking acct. Except for one roll of 2008-P New Mexico that burst open early on and I put them in a plastic tube and tried to auction them off but no one....so I will just use them for tips and small purchases.

    Good luck with your buffalos

I always ask for old bills and 2s. The poor ones I spend. The nice ones I usually keep.

Maybe it’s just me, but everyone looks in rolls for the great looking or old coin. Well what about those coins that have performed their function in life and taken a beating for it. The nickel, in particular, seems to take a beating at an early age. These workhorses seem to get the nastiest damage (most of which looks like they were run over a few times by a 16 wheeler. They have been scraped, dented, bent, and their designs have almost completely been obliterated.

    Bad Nickels010.jpg
For some reason the nickels seem to take the brunt of damaged coins. Pennies, dimes, quarters, and the rest just never seem to get major damage like the nickels.

Most people say that the coin(s) in their photo(s) look better in person. Well I can assure you that these nickels look much worse in person.

Let’s see you worst looking coins!

Today I went to the mall in the big city nearby. Finally, I got a 2017 dated one cent coin in change. And yes, it was a "D". I can assure the collectors on here that 2017 dated one cent coins are being heavily hoarded and will not have any collector premium (wholesale buying price offered by dealers) in anything less than choice BU... 10 years from now.
