Rockwell Mark or BB?

I found a 1952 D cent in my Father-in-laws old bag of wheats from the 40's and 50's with a 2mm wide dent. My first thought was someone used it for target practice with a BB gun. Then I came across something called a Rockwell test mark on the CONECA website.
After looking over the images on CONECA, I'm leaning towards a BB strike.

Rockwell hardness tested with a very small point, so this is way too big to be that. The BB theory would be correct.

Looks small to be s BB but I'm going to say it's a BB caused by a poor shot.

I might give it a go myself with a few damaged wheats. A lot would depend on the distance and velocity of the projectile weapon. I'm curious now!

Poor shot? I suppose that would depend on distance and velocity as well.
If I had to guess, I would say it would have been my wife's older brother who took the shot.
