hey guys i was wondering if anyone knows where to get a classic head large cent in xf? everyone i see is always so worn.
Sure, they're around. Here are two in the upcoming Heritage auction at ANA Fort Worth : http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=1138&LotIdNo=22230 http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=1138&LotIdNo=277004 BE CAREFUL ! These are expensive coins - they'll surely go for 4 figures. Copper is a tricky part of the world. There's much to know, and pitfalls abound. Consider joining the EAC and attending the EAC Convention Annapolis in April.
Here's something critically important to understand - the difference between TPG market grading and EAC grading. A coin graded by a TPG as XF45 will likely be 30 or 35 by EAC standards, and maybe lower. Or not. Prices vary accordingly. IOW... the term "xf" is non-specific. XF by the standards of whom ?
I'm going to second the advice about joining Early American Coppers (EAC). Much knowledge is available from the members. Take a look at: http://www.eacs.org/
