Question for Speedy

I read your post about having tar on a coin. How did you get it off. I have 3 morgan & peace dollars with what appears to be tar on them. Can you tell me your secret?

If you aren't looking to preserve the coins, there are some tar removers you can buy.

 

Well since I only had $1 in the coin I tried many things (I can tell what all I used.)....the thing that worked was toothpast and tomatoe---just prue tomatoe...get a red one at the store and make a hole with a knife and push the coin in and bring it back out and rub it....

I don't suggest cleaning coins but with tar....you almost have to go something...
