Post Your Favorite Raw Toned Coin (If we get a lot I'll add a poll so we can vote on our favorites) This is mine:
I love toned coins but don't really have any cool ones. But i do look forward to seeing everyone's beauties!
I have two favorites in my collection. One is a circulated Mercury Dime and the other is an premium gem Washington Quarter. Of course I have more, but these are my favorites.
I love the toning on that Washington, how does a coin get toned like that though? Doesn't look like endroll, cloth, or from currency?
I just purchased an Dansco Album of just bicentennial coinage in which all the clads are really nicely rainbow toned. And all the toning matches as well. For some reason the silvers dont tone in Dansco albums but they do wonders on clad coins. I will take some pics this weekend and post them... Best part the whole album cost $112.50.
Here's one I just picked up yesterday. It was in a proof set in a Capital plastics holder in an antiques store. I probably paid a tad too much for the set but this Jefferson just caught my fancy. I spent about an hour trying to capture the colors correctly and this the best I could do with it.
I just posted this in the Post a Toned Coin thread. However it does qualify here since it's raw. It shows a bit of green toning on the reverse, and some mottled color on the obverse.
