Here is the original Saint-Gaudens plaster sketch:

The reasoning for the counter-stamps is that even though these are "fantasy" coins, they are not over-strikes. Nor are they actually "fantasy-date" pieces. So I felt that some form of obvious marking was warranted. Either way, marked or un-marked, somebody isn't going to be happy with it. If nobody likes them then they will turn out to be scarcer ;)

If I can get it to work by over-striking existing Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles in gold, then that version will not be counter-stamped.

I saw you already made one gold... so are the plans to do more? I bought one each of these, but would love a gold too, depending on the price.

I expect to start striking the Knights of the Coin table medals later today. I've been working on the blanks for them. Fabricating the bi-metallic 50mm blanks took a while to figure out, but they are done finally.

The one that I did in gold did not come out perfect.
If I can get it to work by over-striking existing Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles in gold, then that version will not be counter-stamped. The counter-stamping of the brass and silver version was also done to differentiate them from any gold pieces that may be released in the future.

  7. Just a heads up that a few other items are almost sold out and now have final mintages listed on the site:

2010-S Silver Washington high grade overstrike: Final mintage = 43, 2 remaining

1999-S Silver Washington high grade overstrike: Final mintage = 48, 2 remaining

1975-S Silver Washington high grade overstrike: Final mintage = 61, 3 remaining

1/1/2 now, unless I was too late...

  9. 0/0/1 remaining. Super low mintage fantasy overstrikes, perhaps the lowest of all silver high grades.

Got this one yesterday. It's the Bronze Proof-Like 2009 Riding Liberty, Color-Toned, Antiqued piece. Less than 5 exist. 2018-02-08 16.21-horz.jpg

I wonder if Daniel Carr can make a 1965 Franklin half dollar to fit in this vintage Franklin half dollar album from the early 1960s. s-l1600.jpg 151820276812843048.jpeg 151820276812843048.jpeg s-l1600.jpg 151820276812843048.jpeg

I've got several Roosevelt "STARTING 1946" folders that have a pre-printed spot for the 1965-D. I'm hoping he'll release one at some point in the future.

Has anybody come across Whitman folders for other denominations with the same kind of pre-printing? Franklin half folders with a printed spot for 1964? Quarter, nickel or cent folders with printed labels for 1965-D?

Edit: it looks like it's not too hard to come by cent and nickel folders with a 1965-D slot. Don't know about quarters or halves. Or, for that matter, Eisenhower dollars...

This Eisenhower dollar folder has spaces for coins up till 1981 if they continued making them. 151821122376645956.jpeg s-l1600-1.jpg

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Here's the ironic part about that. Depending on which varieties to put into it, and which to exclude, The Eisenhower Dollars Whitman doesn't have ENOUGH holes. My fairly complete set, to the standard of what's listed in the "Red Book", is now 34 coins. I believe the Whitman has 27 holes.

Lots of Whitman folders have extra blank spots -- in fact, I think the only ones that don't are ones for series (or spans) that ended before the folder went to press. Even some of them have extra blank spots.

I'm interested in the ones that have actual printed labels for date/mint combinations that never existed.

I'm also thinking I may have seen one that had a label for 1956-S. Not sure, though. I'm not serious enough about this to keep notes...

As a Peace Dollar collector, I almost felt obligated to get the Carr Hard Times Token. ;)

    Great work @dcarr, IMHO.

I think that is the best one hes' ever done. I have mine in a Magic Frame & capsule.
I'll do the same thing with the Knights of the Coin Table bi-metal token. 1917 PD 1-horz.jpg
  19. @dwhiz Got a link to where to purchase this Magic Frame & Capsule?

Hopefully Dan will make another 2oz Peace Dollar Token.

But for 2018 I think he'd need new words in the Obverse outer ring. So maybe it's not a simple task.
