The United States Trade Dollar
America's Only Unwanted , Unhonored Coin
By John M. Willem
I have bought thru trades $3225 from this dealer, who is at most local coin shows. I plan to e-mail him next month to ask him if he has any trade $s. Then, at the show, convince him that he over rated the coin, and put the $425 toward another trade $. Otherwise, put it toward other coins that I need.
Still a 350 dollar coin
That’s a sweet coin
I just bought another 75s today looks VF-30 to 35 obverse and XF-40 reverse to me but very nice original looking coin. What stands out to me on this coin is the wing on the reverse . It does not look like damage . Pretty coin
Coin is authentic.
Only? I think every dollar starting with the Peace dollar to present would fit into the unwanted, unhonored catagory.
I just bought my first CC Trade Dollar a circulated 1874 with one chop mark.
Photos are horrible but they have return privy if its not what I think.
Said they tested it with a sigma and weighed it so thats a good sign.
Worn coin with chop marks means it did the job it was supposed to do! I guess all worn coins have done the job they were intended to do, but trade dollars seem special.
Here’s a 1873 Raw I bought that is variety 3-I1/I3
It has a rim hit that does not go into the reeding but I think it will details . coin has a proof look to it almost . Does not have hairlines or polished but has a interesting color to it.
anyways it still looks nice in hand and not as dark as my photos and it’s a 1873 Philly so I’m thrilled to have it.
very nice example you have , reverse looks quite similar.
Should have it next by Monday
XF-40 with A Green Bean
