This coin looks very interesting and I have no idea which side is the Obverse and Reverse. The side I have as the Obverse looks to have a horned creature with a spear. The Reverse looks to be people and what looks to be the back end of an arrow in the upper left corner. The coin is a bronze 17mm. Would love to see an original in better condition. Best Regards, Darryl
Can anyone recommend a good book that might help me with this particular coin? I have yet to find an online resource that matches. Thanks Darryl
I have attached a better photo group to show more detail. The reverse seems to have a lot going on. I can make out a body facing left with what looks like other people behind him. And arrow goes from left to right through the images of the people. It looks like there may be a bow in the upper right. Some letters are center left. The obverse is a horned creature holding a spear with NTI below. I do not want to give up on this, just not sure where else to go. Thanks Darryl
Probably this is overstrike on Pantikapaion coin. Please, look at: www.ancientcoins.biz/pages/overstrikes/ Take care! NY
Thanks NY, It is wild to see so many clear examples of overstrikes from this area. Due to the lack of clarity of mine I will have to assume that this is the case. Wish I could have narrowed it down to a specific time period an type. Best Regards, Darryl
