Here is my edited 5 Dollar Proof coin: it also has a Certificate of Authenticity from "The Sydney 2000 Olympic Coin Collection" Royal Australian Mint & The Perth Mint. It's the Frill Necked Lizard from the Silver Coin Series. Coin No. 023146 Weight: 31.635gms Denomination: $5 Fitness: 99.9% Diameter: 40.5mm Quality: Proof Mintage: 100000 All coins of these series are dated "2000" to commemorate the Olympic Games in Sydney in the Year 2000. The coins are minted between 1997 and 2000. The serie has 16 silver coins who feature two distinct themes: Australia's cultural diversity and the environmental richness of the Australia continent. The design on the reserve is by Stuart Devlin who also designs for many of Australia's modern coins. I also have a edited business strike coin. Here are some of mine: Japan 1964 Tokyo Olympics 100 yen 1000 yen 1998 Nagano winter Olympics, Third series 500 yen 5000 yen There are two other series, as well as 3 gold coins - they are quite pricey. I'll post my Soviet Olympics set in the next post.
Here are my Soviet Olympic coins. There are a total of 5 platinum, 6 gold, 28 silver and 6 nickel copper and they are available in both proof and uncirculated. (ouch) To make some matters worse, there are a few coins with different mintmarks so it gets quite expensive. Anyways, here are the nickel copper ones: Silver: More in the next post...
Continued: And of course to finish it off, a platinum coin: Sorry, don't have any gold Olympic coins, not a big fan of it. Hope that's more than enough for you
On the coins is permitted, posting image files of the logos is not. The Olympic Committee is very strict about this. And frankly, we don't need the lawsuit. And they are very well known for suing.
