Sorry to hear that. I am supposed to get one as a late gift, but hasn't arrived yet. I usually give out either coins, holiday themed silver rounds, coin folders or the like each year, but didn't give out anything numismatic-related this year.
I did find out that I really like receiving gift cards though, radio shack, home depot...just wish I had gotten one for a coin shop somewhere nearby :?

Did not get any for Christmas this year, but that is OK. I'd probably start lecturing ("Ah yes, nice piece, that. When I bought that same coin a couple of weeks ago, in better quality, though, I paid only blah blah ...") anyway.

However, some coins that I had ordered earlier this month arrived just on Christmas Eve. San Marino and Vatican, late 70s/early 80s ...

I'm usually disappointed if I get a "surprise"coin from someone as a gift.I find they usually pay inflated prices and get something I certainly wouldn't buy for myself in the first place. :( I did get something from the Mrs. I liked,a offer of a coin "I find & pick out" as a late gift. 8) I'm still looking, guess I'm too picky  ~ Jim

The coin store I shop at in Seattle has a layaway program. I usually layaway a few coins before Christmas and then tell people the exact coins I want, which are then on hold for me. You have to put 25% down, but it's a good way to make sure people get you just want you wanted.
