I can see it's in a slab, but I'm not going to guess. I know you have been searching for this date for a LONG time, lol. If your happy, I'm happy !!
AJ, unless I run into a bargain, I am pretty much done searching for this one. It is AU, but still has a couple wisps of red showing. It has a pretty good strike for a 26-S. I have seen a few better, but it close.
Rlm....if gems were easy, they would not cost $100,000 plus !!!!!! Most don't know the 26-S is the true key to the series, with conditional rarity, it is #1. Congrats !!!!! Does this mean your done with the set? Or do you still need the 24-D and a few others ?
This one is not even in the #1 set. Just thought it was worth a shot and I think I was right. I think I finally have a 24-S (its in the mail), but still need a 24-D and to find someone to trade my last set for an S VDB.
Man, niiiiice!!! Now that's a 26-S, congrats!!! Nice strike, I give it a AU-58? Doesn't look like there is hardly anything there at all, congrats! :thumb: Phoenix
NTC gave it a 58, but I don't think it is quite that high. Maybe I am nit-picking, but I think AU55. Who knows, maybe you are right.
VERY nice coin. But IMHO, I would not grade this AU at all. I am going to give my honest grade as an XF-45 because this has lost a lot of details
Ryan, how familiar are you with the typical strike of the 26-S, and most branch mint Lincolns of the 20's in general? It is very telling if you look at the population of Gem Lincolns in these years, that the issue is very difficult to find fully struck with sharp dies. I dont see much if any wear at all.
