I haven't seen a copy of that on the market in years. It works but it takes some getting used to, and it has helped in the cherrypicking of some rare varieties. I almost never use my copy anymore because I have come up with better attribution methods. (I have an outline format of diagnostics that works easter that I use.) And even with this 1798's and 1800's in low grade are still extremely difficult.
Great pickup. Its surprising how many books like this are useful. I have a Byzantine attribution guide published 30 years ago I find most helpful. Just because a book isn't listed as the "standard" do not assume its not helpful or valuable. Many collectors have spent years putting together great works to help others, and are like this volume, limited production and most have never seen them. Some of the most helpful books I own were published by collectors, for collectors, but are looked down upon because they are not "doctorate quality". Chris
Very cool find. Not sure if it means anything to you, but that probably belonged to Ron Janowsky, an old EAC guy. He passed recently and that ebay account has been selling most of his collection, I picked up a couple coins. Conder, do you have any interest in sharing your attribution tool?
I'm doing my best at trying to learn some of these large and half cents. there are so many varieties for some of these that it is very hard to determine which is what... especially when the differences are subtle..
