[QUOTE="larssten, post: 2483877, member: 78319"]I recently purchased these colonial cobs. One 8 real and two 4 real. They are according to the seller minted in Mexico. On at least one of them you can identify the "fleur-de-lis" looking cross which identify it with the Mexican mint. Still I am hoping to get a confirmation of mint location. Moreover, the mintage year, was according to seller in the 1720-ies, but this I am not quite sure of either. Not sure if year is visible on either coins. These coins originates from the Dutch shipwreck Akerendam, which went down outside of Runde island in Norway in 1725 after it was separated from its two other sister ships on its way to today's Jakarta to trade goods. I have started study the coins using Sedwicks Practical Book on Cobs, but as an amateur, I think I need a little assistance to get more info of these coins like mintage location, year and assayer. Underneath pictures of 8 real, 4 real and 2nd 4 real in that order. Thanks for any comments or inputs!
