I went hunting on eBay today and found some great deals on gold coins, and they are my first. I got 3 in total from 3 different countries. Here they are: #1: 1945 Mexican 2.5 Pesos, Fineness: 0.900, AGW: 0.0602oz, Cost: $61 #2: 1932 Netherlands 10 Gulden, Fineness: 0.900, AGW: 0.1947, Cost: $190 #3: 1959 English Full Sovereign, Fineness: 0.917, AGW: 0.2354, Cost: $227.77 (I LOVE THIS COIN, such a beauty MS65 at least) Total cost: $478.77 + $26.40 (S&H) = $505.17 Spot is around $490 per half ounce, and I paid $505 for about half an ounce. Approximately $15 over spot for all 3 coins including shipping! I think I got a great price. I spent basically all day yesterday and today searching for some deals. Time well spent in my opinion, now gold just has to reach $3000
I'm drooling over my keyboard...:goofer: I worked really hard to get these. I bid on another 10 or so coins but I got outbid on them, some by only a few bucks! But I made sure to bid as close to the spot price as I could, and I ended up with these three beauties. I especially LOVE the sovereign, the 2.5 peso is very cute and tiny, and the dutch coin is in great shape and has an "official" look to it, lol.
That is a good idea IMO because it is easy to get caught in the bidding wars and the desire to "win" on ebay. When you take emotions out of bidding on ebay and you follow a game plan like you did, then you will have your "victory" when you win the auction for a low premium over spot price for a gold or silver coin. You will find that you will get outbid a lot but you will not be overpaying for gold and silver coins and that is what will matter in the end IMO.
I agree, 1970 Silver Art. I was bidding on a 5 and 10 peso gold coin and was so tempted to go over what I planned to pay. But, in the end, my original plan worked out very well and I don't think twice about the coins I almost got.
You'll be excited when you get these in ! Nice work. Yes, one can get gold at or near spot on E-bay... sometimes, even below ! Post up when they arrive. I'm sure you'll be thrilled. :thumb:
