    Hello,

I just bought my family's first detector, an Ace 250. My four year old and I spent 8pm-9m checking out our yard. Our house is 3 years old in a former farmer's cowfield in East Tennessee. We found:

4 bits of the four year old toys I've hit with the lawn mower.
3 bits of beer cans near the road
1 piece of what looks like barb wire
1 hinge and some wood, maybe from an old barn
    1 1969-d cent
1 2006-p nickel next to our bird feeder- I'm sure I'm responsible for that

    Typical?

We had the detector set on "coins".

It was definately fun, but darkness (and his bedtime) ran us off.

I find metal detecting very enjoyable. A while back I bought my first metal detector, it was a Whites Prizam II. I decided to take a photo of what I had found.

This where I first hunted, my front yard.

And this is what I found.

After two days of searching my yard, this is my totals.

I bought a Whites MXT and have taken it out only a few times:eek:

Everytime I did, I found money in the ground and one old HotWheels car.

I swear to use it and to get out more often, it is an expensive toy just sitting around.

I borrowed a friends detector over a year ago (for shame) and today was the first time I used it. I lost a silver chain the other day while loading brush and I thought I'd find it for sure. Nothing, in an hour of searching tall grass. I'll return it on Monday, I promise.

I really should get my own.
