Send it to PCGS for crossover....:kewl:
Wouldn't surprise me if we saw a 67, or 66 come back chief!
I'm in shock you didn't get one single 68, or a 67!!!
I'm sure yours 66's look better than that...
For 5,000, that is ridiculous!
Still no LOG CABIN MS68's....
And already a formative 68
That log cabin will bring big bucks, if a 68... And that formative years 68 should bring at least $1-1,500 if the 67's bring what, $250-$400
I have to disagree Chief, if it gets sent to NGC then it will come back MS67 or lower...lol.
T$...you can bet before all is said and done, Chief will have a 67 or 68!!!!
Shoot, he'll get a MS70, and move in, to a MANSION, and more than DOUBLE his tribe!
A $5000 price tag. The seller may, or may not get it. He WILL get a hefty premium as, after all, it's an NGC First Day of Issue. Whoop de doo!
Now, don't get me wrong here. MS68 is indeed a lofty grade especially if the "formative years" coins are as shoddy as the "log cabin". I've seen enough and the quality is horrible in my opinion. I own zero and wll be fine if that number stays where it is.
It's a very modern cent. It's in a chunk of plastic and there will be MILLIONS minted.
The TPGs become more pathetic every day on this modern stuff. They fan the flames of "I need the best" on this modern stuff. They can do it with modern stuff and get away with it. They make their own price guides and issue "population reports".
Want to do something interesting? See how the population reports change on these in the next six months vs. the population reports on, let's say, an 1893-S Morgan.
Then figure out what is an authentic and proven rarity.
I think the
First Day Issue
Is all crap... Just more ways, for grading companies to make their money, and more ways for dealers to make money... Dealers will send their shipments in, get em' graded with a $12 label, pray the population reports are low, then flip em' for the big bucks!
Regardless your view of this, you could buy a $25 Buffalo MS69 and a $25 buffalo MS69 First Strike, and pay up to $300 more for the first strike, but you are getting the same coin! So you are basically paying for the $12 label, and the plastic!
I believe in having coins graded, vs. raw, but I'd rather buy a bunch of raw coins, rather than have some FIRST DAY ISSUE junk... (Not saying people who collect FDI's are collecting junk, just saying I wouldn't pay a large premium for it)
That's my point. I think you're getting it.
I've been doing this for a long time. 99% of my coins are raw. I'll start slabbing them for one basic reason.
If something happens to me my wife will get better money for them. I'll only "waste" the slabbing fees on "proven" coins.
One born every minute. I just won't play that game but believe me dealers do as it is a business.
I will NOT show this thread to my boss because I don't really want to go through rolls of modern stuff to have him send it in. Did that a few weeks ago with 97 silver eagles. ONE came back a 70.
Well shoot clembo, don't they just put those ASE's on conveyor belts, and play eenie meenie miney mo? lol
Out of my one roll of log cabins I won, in a contest... I think I found a lot of 64-65, and a few 66... I doubt any were 67's...
But hey, if I thought they were, I'd join PCGS, and get it graded, and sell... Just brings me closer to gold! Sell modern plastic crap, for gold... and proven coins, makes sense to me!
I buy from that guy all the time......he said my bussiness strike New Jersey Quarter is worth 29.99 I really wish i could sell to him
Yep you sure have.......:thumb:
LargeCents and myself had 212 rolls of Cabins to go thru.......
We still have 97 rolls left.....:rolling:
So far we have about 20 with nice toning already....put those in PCGS flips for long term storage......in a few years they will look cooler....:high5:
LC found a sharp die break on the obverse of one.....looks cool...
Well let me get my cotton gloves and 12X and start looking for that first 68.....:bow::bow:
Be the first numismatist on your block to own a MS-70.
I already own three MS70 morgans... lol
Nope, to my knowledge none have ever been graded that high... MS69 is as high as I've heard...
(The post above, with my MS70's, was humor...)
