medieval coin?

    CA +R+ OLVST. < _ _ _ _ _ > . 783 (2).

    my first idea was about a coin of Carl Magne, (from the year), but there are some divergent points: the years starts to be written in arabic letters only from 1400, maybe this coins could be of 1783 (2). (the dot could be a 1), and then the style...
    what do you think about?

    I do not know which is more astounding: that you bought this coin in the first place; that you cannot identify it; or that you expect us to.

    I cannot see CAROLUS T in the picture.

    All you have to do is to get an encyclopedia of European history and look for rulers named Charles or Carlos or Carolus or Karl, etc., in 1783.

    first at all i have already done what you said (if not i'd not need help to identify it), but there is no sense to try to express to you my way of the numismatic, because evidently you'r an american.
