I know what is causing this effect...give me 10 min to prove it.
this 80% correct be back soon see photo shinney 2006 ..trying to keep the copper shine.
I opened a roll that had this grease ...wax... boggers...etc. and most of coins are trying to rainbow. as the air is ...lets say airing them out , the grease vapors, mohaaaa, is turning the ones closet to it. 2 coins are soaked with this sludge. see sludge photo. I'm dabbing the grease with a q tip ...yes cleaning it softly. after I'm done I'm gonna rub it....ever so softly and watch the show....mooohaaaaa.....oh ya cut a break its an experiment
ok there gonna take about 30 min. the new coin is sitting between the 2 grease...slugs coins as call them

 

the rainbow effect. here's one after 20 min....

this coin - the one in the sandwich of sludge- on the left- was same GRADE as photo on right. see photo 2. 30 min in chamber'' just kidding, it sat on my table
paddy 98 knows i've been finding these sludge coins.
protocol says do not clean... but I'm adventurous..the errors that this blob causes is off the charts...
now I'm gonna see whats under this sludge.
yes I'm gonna clean them the best way to remove this infection.
texture is as wax. grease never dries completely.
my guess is ...its grease from the press causing these coins to oxodise..
please note example is copper.
gonna try silver. ahhhhhhh, ...its a dime.

Just got in to French Coins thanks to an acquaintance at the coin show in Gettysburg. (No kitty pics this time Lord M. Sorry).

 

Ah, what the heck. Here is a coin whose writeup is long overdue. Also, entry post.

 

I'm waiting for the lepercons to knock themselves out...hehe...gave them a bottle of Crown Royal. Don't want them to interfeir with experiment, after all its their rainbow. then gotta talk to the printers union. The Rep....trade secrets ya know...been their done that, ah its all good. photos show : please forgive my I.T. dept. going through renovations so content is limited.
First photo is the sludge carrier. I haven't done any housekeeping on it. other than Q-Tip rubbing gathering the infection suffocating the coin.
2nd photo is a coin found in roll , this killed the cud as shown in photo, its clear to me that inside the roll the sludge is guilty of destroying my purchased coins

Said sludge will be collected and stored for further evaluations. MOOOOHAAAA!
The coin its self its a gonner in the damage catog. ??.
This coin was in my view..45 yrs as a pressman (Offset, UPPER DECK CARDS, in resume, 2nd pressman, 640 Kamorie Press , Disney products, *Annual Reports*)
being held to the highest standards in printing was used as makeready for many startups. it takes over 300, 100 lb cover sheets, running 3 or 4 times through the press to reach a proof that is inspected, and signed by client before the start of production. it was used and abused many times. DAMAGE ?
To get into circulation .......pressman error...packing error..(.any one for office politics.. I hate that term and action)..MINT ERROR !
