Count me in again for the denarius of Antonius Pius. I like collecting the 5 good emperors and this is a type I don't have yet.
The Five Good Emperors is a nice little short set, isn't it? Much easier to do than The Twelve Caesars, but still just challenging enough, and with a lot of interesting types of coins to choose from. Now that I've completed the Twelve Caesars in my own collection, I reckon I should get those Five Good Emperors myself. I have Hadrian and Antoninus Pius, so I'd only need to add Nerva, Trajan, and Marcus Aurelius. I reckon I'm 40% of the way there already.
My entry post is for the 2 silver dollars. Lordmarcovan tells me one or the other is in perfect worn shaped to keep one in your pocket and play with it like a CowBoy! I want to be that CowBoy.. Thanks Lordmarcovan!!
My sister @Elizabeth Shamblin donated those. She'll be happy to know someone's chosen that lot for their potential prize.
Although not a cowboy, I've carried Morgan Dollar, Standing Liberty & Barber Quarters, and a Mercury Dime in my pocket for years. I just like the feel of silver, and, since I usually have my hand in the pocket playing with them, I suspect there is some anti-bacterial advantage too.
Entry Post. Thanks LordM! I'd like to pick the Antonius Pius Denarius because I stumbled into the square where his column sits on the way back to the hotel in Rome one night. Great emperor no one expected to last.
I pick the Crusader States silver denier of Bohemond III of Antioch because I have none from the crusader states. These short-lived states continue to impact history to the present.
Entry post for the benjamin fbl. I have a place in my heart for Franklin halves. Thank you @lordmarcovan for the contest. Pic of Yellowstone North last year. Regards.
I would like to enter for myself. I would like to participate to win the Edo Japanese 100 mon coin. It would fit very well in my collection of "strange currency". I once was a nigh auditor for the Rodd's Parkhouse Inn during my university studies. It's a very interesting job
Please enter me in the running for this drawing. My selection would be the Greece (Ionia, Miletos): ca. 550-490 BC silver 1/12 stater; lion and stellate pattern. I picked this because in the 56 years I have collected coins (off and on, mostly off), I have never owned any coin more than a couple of hundred years old. The entire Greek and Roman period of our history has always been fascinating to me and I am sure at least one of my Granddaughters would find it extremely interesting.
Roman Empire: ca. 318-320 AD bronze Æ17 of Licinius II, camp gate, Heraclea mint I collect Campgate coins from Licinius II. This coin from the Giveaway would enhance my collection of campgate Follis. I like it for being from Heraclia and getting a twin to mine. Happy New Year, I still like this Campgate, i have about 10 from Different Emperors. This coin was purchased from: Victor Clark 2-28-19
Enter me please! I would like to enter for the 1895 Barber Quarter. It is a great example of a Barber Quarter with nice detail. Thanks for the contest!
We're not too far off! I've carried a Morgan Dollar (first coin my mother gave me), a Mercury Dime (first coin I bought from a coin show as a child) and a 2 Cent Piece (liked throwing my "2-cents" in at work meetings) for years.
@lordmarcovan - please enter me for the Again, you know my story about digging at the Roman Fort at Vindolanda, England, this past spring. One of our group found a coin that looked very similar to this one. The one I found was too mucked up to recognize any detail. But, having this coin would be a great remembrance of my time at Vindolanda, since we were digging up 3rd and 4th Century ruins! Here's one thing that I did find, that you can probably see at the Vindolanda Museum! It's a 4th Century metal and glass Brooch. And, the clasping mechanism on the back was still in tact, and operable! It's dirty, here, but they'll clean it up before putting it in the museum. Hope to go back and see it there some day!
The 1943 steel Lincoln. The few I had put away all corroded. I always liked them, but my mother for some reason hated them and once told me if she saw one on the carpet she would vacuum it up! Haha! I didn't press her as to why she hated them, I left that alone.
