Kennedy Half Question

    Hi All,
    For all the Kennedy experts, I read somewhere that you should save all 1999 p & d minted Kennedy halfs why should I save this year ?

    I think the argument is that the mintages are only around 10 million so compared to previous years or to 2000 or 2001 it's rather small. Personally I don't save them unless they are in very nice shape but to each their own.

    it's the lowest mintage Kennedy released into circulation. I think odds are good it will be the key to the set 100 years from now. Additionally, these coins for some reason tended to go to the casinos at a higher rate than most other years meaning that nice coins are nearly impossible to find in circulation less than 10 years later.

    Obviously, there are some nice coins still in mint sets, but I think it is pretty likely that the people who bought the '99 mint set so that thwy would have nice coins for the statehood quarter albums have mostly just spent the halves making the issue rarer than would be expected.

    just my 2¢ but that is why I save all the nice ones I find and a fair number of the ok ones I find.
