Roy is right, Israel phone token, showing a telephone dial on the front http://images.google.com/images?hl=...G=Google+Search&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi
Thanks Guys. Now that you have told me that its easy to see. Had a feeling it was a token of some kind, Actually thought as the header listed it was some type of John Deere or Chevy Impala from the middle east. You guys are the best.
The Asimon is no longer used in Israel and the payphones have been updated accordingly. It is much easier to use a cell phone though.... You can find 10 different varieties of this Token at http://isracoins.com/P27.htm
A guy brought one into work today and I remembered this thread (I guess there is hope for me yet). It was a nice reference to show him. Makes me wonder how Roy is doing? If he's out there and sees this - I hope it finds him well and happy!!!
Isn't that what three other people said (with correct spelling of the country name) back when the thread was current?
According to this text http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_token such tokens were in use in Israel "until the late 1980s". Hope that info is more accurate than the last paragraph of that article - I have never heard of "cross border use" of phone tokens anywhere. Christian
