Greetings: I just bought two 1962 10thousand lira notes and they are absolutely marvelous! Does anyone take a fancy to Italian currency ? Does anyone know how much these two notes are worth? Living here in Italy I want to "load up" at the next Numismatica market so any advice would be very kind. Are there any online world paper currency guides? Thanks a bunch to the forum everyone here is great! PS> I plan on buying alot for my son anyway but I am thinking about getting alot more as there are alot of Antique markets here etc thanks.
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but here's one I refer to often... http://aes.iupui.edu/rwise/notedir/mappage.html Yours: p-97 on http://aes.iupui.edu/rwise/countries/italy.html
Thanks a million SAMJIMMY!!! Here is the link to what I bought last weekend thanks to the link you posted. http://aes.iupui.edu/rwise/banknotes/italy/ita070_f.JPG Thanks for the reply It is much appeciated and hopefully I can get a good price guide ( will probably buy one online of world currency) as I plan on buying more Italian currency. Alot of people here hungry for the old italian notes after switch to the frowned upon Euro (by many anyway) so it is uplifting to know there are only so many on the market and demand and scarcity is sure to rise. Thanks a bunch again!!!!!!!!!
the 1962 10,000 lire note catalogs at $10.00 in vf, and $35.00 in uncirculated. while you're there, keep an eye out for the 50,000 lire da vinci notes of the same series. http://aes.iupui.edu/rwise/banknotes/italy/ItalyP99c-50000Lire-1972-74-donatedth_f.jpg they're getting pretty hard to find, and are fetching higher and higher prices in uncirculated! also, if you happen to venture down into sicily, i highly recommend a tour of the capucin monastery catacombs in palermo.
Thanks SANMIGUEL!!!!!!!! I have been all over Italy and Sicily. I was last in Palermo back in 98 but I did not go to the place that you had mentioned. Grazie Mille for the advice on the 50 k note in the same series I will keep an eye out for it !!!!!!!!!!! Any other notes you advice I get?????? Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!
No problem I only have three Italian notes, and I don't think they are all that rare or uncommon but I enjoy them... Italy 500 Lire 1979 p-94 Italy 1000 Lire 1990 P-114 Italy 1000 Lire 1982 p-109
here are my italian notes (with catalog values in parentheses). it might be useful for comparing prices with the local market in case you don't have a catalog with you. http://public.fotki.com/sanmiguel/world_banknotes/italy
