    Greetings to the forum:

Want to thank all of those dedicated to the site. I admit I never post but check the site daily, sometimes for hours.

As a United States Sailor with 15 years in I have a small collection of American coins to include a few Saints a few Libs and some CC Morgans.

Every Sunday I travel to various Antique or "Numismatica" markets I recently traveled 5 hours to one to the very south in Reggio Calabria from where I residen in Naples.

To the point my questions are: I cant find an Italian price guide online any advice?

Anyone know of anyone who specializes or has an interest in Italian coins or Currency for that matter I just recently picked up some Mint State 1962 10 thousand lira Michelangelo notes and 7 1955 Vatican 100 lira coins.

Any thoughts, comments, advice will be very well appreciated as I am about to make a big deal with a local national co-worker that I have shared an office with for 2 years and never knew that his father owned a Numismatica store here in Naples and he inherited all of his coins.

He said that "they dont interest me that much and I am thinking about geting rid of them".

Thanks all in advance and God Bless. :)

Don't know of any, but here are some pages/sources that could be helpful:

    http://www.lamoneta.it/
    (an Italian coin forum)

    http://www.gpeppi.com/eurocoins/forum/default.asp
(another one, mostly but not only euro)

    http://utenti.lycos.it/iengofilippo/www/mon_ita.html
(image gallery of post-1950 Italian coins; no prices/values though)

    http://www.inkoze.de/welt/pdf/italien.pdf
(the Italy pages from a German language catalog of world coins)

Note that this is the 1999 edition, not the current one. So prices are still in DM (divide by two to get the approximate value in €) and newer coins are not included.

Try clicking the last two links I posted. Whether they are sooo gorgeous, well, you know what they about beauty being in the eyes of the beholder. Some Italian coins are superb, a few are dull, and YMMV ...

This is an Italian 10 Centesimi coin which I posted yesterday. It is about 30% red and dated 1867 with an H mintmark.

One of the most beautiful Italian coins IMO is the 500 Lire with the young lady in midevil dress.

I love 500 lire! Do you know the history of 500 lire caravelle 1957 woth the flags against the winds? It's pretty cool...

your 10 centesimi in UNC cost in Italy around 500€

    Very nice coins!

Pray tell. :) All I know is that such a piece (prova) exists. And that it is pretty expensive. So what is the story behind it?

I can't find the story in english, But basically says that the designer had only one night to do de essay and used his wife as a model. Also says that the flags against the wind were on purpose, because it was and old way that used sailors...
    My english is very scarce!
