Hi, new to this forum. Just getting into coin errors and such and am having a blast. Got this dime when I worked at a coffee shop about five years ago, put it back and recently re-discovered it. Metal on top is different color than rest of dime but is pressed in but does have a ridge where underneath dime can be seen. Just trying to find out info about it, value, rarity, etc. Know nothing but have watched videos and read online articles. Thanks for reaching out in advance. This seems like a really cool site.
No it is just damaged. Looks like glue or some other foreign substance, and another coin was pressed into it.
Ok, thanks, I couldn't figure out what was going on since the edges are like a normal dime and the dime pressed into the other dime has backwards writing. Thanks for your answer. This is a great hobby and I've already got my 8-year-old searching through his change, lol...
I would recommend trying to be a sponge and soak up everything you can. Try to make some time to check the following sites. Don't worry if it doesn't make sense at first, if you stick with it, it will. http://www.error-ref.com http://doubleddie.com Here is a link to a CT thread that members have posted a number of really good links on error coins. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/what-to-search-for.314471/#post-3049383 Looking forward to your future posts asking "I think I found xxx, because I see these characteristics. Is that correct?" Those are the types of posts that most members love to answer. Best of luck
