    Despite it being far from perfect, slabbed coins have assured consumers value in that they have a guarantee on grading, protection from being scammed in the market and a footing as to value.

    This should naturally start to extend into coin security in identification of coins and to get value from potentional theft. The PCSG sheild program, in fact, is a step in the right direction. However when grading started, it was backed by and designed by major coin dealers as a consortium. These same dealers might well see less value is assuring that coins are protected from being stolen and resold back into the market. But the value is still there and it can be unlocked, giving dealers and consumers greater value for their certifications.
