Its hostility to attack someone who asks for help with a problem. English seems like it might be his 2nd language so its possibly racist too.

Knock off the straw man argument crap. An established business that relies on their reputation to generate business isn't going to be stealing $100 coins as part of their business plan. And you want proof that statement is true? Really?

Did your contract with the auction house require them to send you proof, or verification, or links, or photos? That should be very easy for you to ascertain. That would be proof. Whining about it is not proof. Should they have contacted you? IMO yes, but we're they obligated? If you did your homework before consigning you would know this. But it sounds like you didn't do due diligence and got burned. I'm still guessing that you authorized the auction house to send the coins out to a TPG and they came back lower than you thought.

Nobody is attacking you for making a dumb mistake. We 've all done that. The criticism is for trying to blame your mistakes on others without a modicum of proof. Just a "here's my story. Trust me".

In my case, it happened exactly as stated. There is no defending sharp business practices.

My question, not a hard one.

 

My momma, rest her soul, didn't really teach me to be gracious to people making unsupported accusations against others, especially when those accusations were potentially damaging to the accused and cost the accuser nothing. Not even if those "others" were Big Faceless Corporations, and the accusers were right there in the same room.

She did teach me to think critically about surprising claims. And logical fallacies ("if you criticize someone who has weak English skills, maybe it's because you're racist").

We have scads of people who blame racism for every disappointment in life. Its become an industry.
Whats good for the goose is good for the gander too.
He might be a lifetime citizen and just have weak communication skills. But whatever the reason, he should have been treated with more grace and patience. Instead, he was driven away.
I have seen this in other threads here over the years. Ok, so newbies ask the same questions over and over. Or some threads come up again and again. But there is no requirement to even reply at all. Even less to attack, question the persons integrity and drive them away.

By my experience, it is entirely possible that you could be cheated. Given the process, its easy, and even though I researched, prepared and thought I defended myself, I was still defrauded. The process should be transparent for all.
But I am wasting my time. You have some sort of emotional investment in this that defies reasoning.
