based on $730.00 per ounce for gold and $838.00 for platinum. so the half ounce gold will be worth $365.00 for gold and $419.00 for platinum. current offered from u.s.mint were: spouse gold proof - $549.95 spouse gold unc - $524.95 dolley madison proof - $529.95 dolley madison unc - $509.95 eagle gold proof - $534.95 eagle gold unc - $509.95 buffalo gold proof - $549.95 buffalo gold unc - $524.95 bullion gold unc - $408.00 or plus bullion platinum unc - $460.00 or plus eagle platinum proof - $599.95 eagle platinum unc - $569.95 swiss rectangular bar unc - chinese panda proof - chinese panda unc - canadian maple leaf proof - canadian maple leaf unc - and other foreign gold - well, which one you like to buy?. and why? or why you choose platinum instead?. and why?. or you choose a foreign gold and why?. other consideration might be fineness such as .900,.917,.999,.9999 or face value like 200.00, 100.00, 50.00 and so forth. or design such as eagle, buffalo, liberty, panda etc. seriously speaking, it is hard to find one. anyway, just choose the one you like. maybe that is the right answer.
i chose one before i bought some 1/2 oz. american eagle (w) unc gold coin before. and now i am planning to acquire some 1/2 oz. american buffalo unc gold coin. my relatives bought swiss rectangular gold bar before. i don't like it. by the way, i also got 2 pc of jefferson's liberty gold. chinese panda is beautiful but very expensive.
to TheNoost near spot is good. but right now the dealers charges very high premium too. example, the silver bullion eagle. the dealers charges around $4.00 to $5.00 premium instead of $2.00 before.
pricing from a dealer i got one price from a dealer. that is for american eagle bullion unc 1/2 oz. gold. based on $730.00 per ounce or $365.00 per 1/2 oz. the guy is selling $465.00. that is $100.00 over spot. in that case, i would rather buy directly from the u.s. mint. because the (w) mint mark is much rarer. and the bullion coin mintage is quite high. no numismatic value at all.
Yeah, I know.:headbang: even pawn shops trying to sell 90% junk for 14X face. www.libertycoinservice.com figures the % markup over spot for different countries bulion coins.
gold & platinum up as of this writing, gold 745.30 platinum 850.00, silver 9.61. hopefully keep on rising. so that mint products will look like cheap.
nothing it looks like nothing to shop on the mint last change items. those good stuffs sold out not even starting to sell date. who bought them?. the mint itself. the insiders, some powerful dealers?.
If your buying half oz buy the Buffalo. I always liked your Mintage stats. Now try mine: I started a new post yesterday about no more fractional Bullion Proof and the Unc "W". I wish somebody from 2006 was still with us to confirm this. If the above is true, true, true... 1). Buffalo tenth,Quater,Half Oz. will be a one year issue/type coin. 2). Everybody LOVES the Buffalo coins. 3). The half Mintage Pr 1,576 +6720 4-set Unc 2,245+4,775 4-set 4). The special 08 New year set has the Unc half in it not sure if its in the numbers. 5). The one Oz Unc Buff and Platinum will be gone.
bullion coins still produce all bullion gold and platinum coins bearing no mint mark are still produce by the mint. that include all sizes. silver proof and unc with w mint mark and silver unc without w mint mark still continue.
UNC "W" and Proof All AGE proofs will still be produced. 1 Oz UNC 'W" AGE 1 Oz Proof Buffalo 1 Oz Proof Platinum
buy some i finally decided to buy some of the last chance offered from the mint. also i plan to purchase some 2008 gold and platinum.
bullion 1/2 ounce you can buy this bullion 1/2 ounce gold coin for $435.50 at nw terr. mint. but you can not choose the date.
i bought one set of american buffalo (w) proof and one set of american eagle (w) proof. i plan to buy some half ounce proof.
The buffalo proof should do well down the road, it appears the mintages will be very low for proof coins. The 1/10 could be 18,000 The 1/4 could be 13,000 The 1/2 could be 13,000 And the one ounce 19,500 The lowest mintage modern proof gold commemorative is 21,840. All of the gold eagle proof have higher mintages than the buffalo gold proof, I think the 2008 will as well. The only modern proof gold with a lower mintage I think is the 1 ounce reverse gold Eagle at 10,000 Also the one ounce proof buffalo will probably be the long-term key coin to the Buffalo one ounce proof series that will continue. So all four buffalo proof look like great coins to own, and besides it is a great design to own. The UNC buffalo 1/4 looks like it will be at about 10,000 mintage which is also low. When compared to other low mintage modern gold there are a few more that are lower so I am not sure how it will stack up as the proof buffalo do. Either way though I expect prices for these coins all to rise over time and unless the mint makes more of the fractionals these will hold an important place for modern proof coins. PS The only coins lower mintage than the gold though are the platinum and we all know how low those are.
to CentDime. yes, those were really low. but i still like unciruclated. more like a general circulated coin. also silver is better than gold and platinum. and gold is better than platinum.
we have 14 half ounce gold coins to choose from the mint: spouses gold proof and uncircualted - 8 coin american eagle gold proof, uncirculated, & bullion - 3 coin american buffalo gold proof, uncirculated, & bullion - 3 coin all these are still available direct from the u.s. mint.
can't control it. i still bought 12 pieces of 1/2 ounce american buffalo bullion gold. half in proof and half in uncirculated.
