I got this chinese coin yesterday along with some new foreign silver coins, and 2 from luxembourg and monaco. does anyone know what year this may be from, and if it is in the coin catalog? 001.jpg

A look at the reverse would be helpful.

It is supposed to be a cash from emperor Chien Lung 1736-1795, but looking at the fields it looks like a modern copy. Also the characters are just a little off. Here is a real one

Hang tight! There's a few experts on here that might be able to help you with this coin.
A better scan or picture of both sides is needed. Also, a lot of these issues were made at different mints and most are so common that they're usually worth anywhere from $.50 to $3.00 US.

I'm sorry to say that yours is a modern replica which is used as kind of charm in China. And I'm quite sure of my judgement.
If it is a real one, Qian Long Tong Bao was issued by Emperor Gao Zong (1736-95) of Ancient China Qing Dynasty. The legends on the reverse are the mint mark.
Qian Long Tong Bao is not a rare type but is welcome in collectors and can be devided in many subtypes. Most subtypes are cheap except some from rarer mint such as Tai Wan mint. So you can find some genuine examples without paying much.
