It's not here quite yet - so I am using the sellers pics for the time being. But I don't want to keep Sylvester waiting now do I The coin that came after the franc a' cheval - the franc a' pied. Without the coin in hand I cannot be certain of the attribution but I think this may have been struck by Guy De Luxembourg 1364-1371. 'Til then - the pics
Well there's always a first... My insalubrious bank account is cursing you mightily, i on the other hand am enamoured.
Just an update - coin arived and I finally got it imaged. I also managed to attribute it correctly now that I can examine it in hand - Charles V struck in 1365
29 mm - 3.79 gm ( actual weight of this coin - spec weight was 3.82 ) of 1.000 gold. The legends are obv - KAROLVS DI GR FRANCORV REX Charles, by the grace of God, King of the Francs Rev - XPC VINCIT XPC REGHAT XPC IMPERAT Christ overcomes, Christ reigns, Christ orders
How schweet GDJMSP. I have said it before and I will say it again. You have one of the finest coin eyes of anyone I know!
Uhhh - do you want to know the bullion value back in 1365 or today ? Thanks Nd But it's not my eye really - I only buy the ones that jump up and slap me in the face to get my attention
