This coin is graded.... just wanted to see if it survives the the test of fire for the high grade it recieved.
Actually, maybe MS-66? But I am no professional, so do not take my word for it! You have a very nice Morgan there!
MS66. My photos of Morgans always look much worse than the real thing. They really accentuate minor luster grazes; the luster never looks as good as coin in hand. I think that's true on this photo as well. Great strike both sides. Very clean fields; almost no bagginess other than minor luster grazes. Terrific coin. Great detail on eagle's breast. The key is that little blemish right in the middle of Libbie's cheek. Is it real or exaggerated by the photo ? That could drop it down to 65.
Without looking at the second page, I would call it an easy 65. I think even PCGS would grade it that. ANACS might go 66 or even 67. The mark on the cheek is noticable, but I don't think it would lower the grade due to the luster and lack of other distracting marks. One B E UUTIFUL coin in my opinion.
Unless they changed drasticly since they were sold , ANACS would grade on par with PCGS & NGC , certainly not 2 points . rzage
Another cool aspect of this one... that light golden halo around the rims. For some folks, that's a real plus.
