I haven't really seen too many guess the grade threads in awhile, so I figured I start a new one. Here it is, 1890 CC Morgan (It's in a PCGS holder): *This is not my coin. 1890-CC $1 MS65 PCGS.... Morgan Dollars
I'd say AU55... Looks like some light where on the ear and the right feather has a messy strike. Not a great looking coin at all IMO.
Looks like it got run over by someone's kids Big Wheel a few times, left outside in a bucket of diesel fuel for a month, then put in a mostly PVC holder for 3 months....dipped, then improperly dried with raw wool. But since it's a CC Morgan...MS63...:smile
I really can't tell what is surface marks and what is toning from those photos. One thing is certain, the coin has a nice personality. I am going to guess (and it is a complete guess) that it is MS64 and that most of what is going on is toning.
I'll post the grade in a few minutes. I have to go find the link, lol, because in my infinite wisdom I forgot to save it :goof:.
hahaha nice! Yeah it is hard tell on the marks but assuming they are on the coin I would say MS60-62. Nice luster but lots of distracting marks.
Ok so here it is: 1890-CC $1 MS65 PCGS.... Morgan Dollar Yep, a 65 . Imo it's a 63, and wouldn't be that surprised if it was in a 64 holder because it's a CC. I agree it's a little hard to tell (especially on the reverse) from the pics, what's actually surface marks and what's toning. But just on the obverse imo there's too many hits for it to be a 65.
