Please guess the grade of the 1945-D Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 4 different things: the numerical grade, 5FS or NOT FS, + grade, and * designation. As always, comments welcome, and please remember to vote in the poll.
Add * to my vote, I didn't check that, I think it should get *, too (I only checked + and there doesn't appear to be any way to amend and add *).
MS66. Don't know about the steps as I walk with a cane and use the ramp. Avoid stairs.... Grumble grumble!!
I voted 66 not FS. If it was in a PCGS holder, I might have said 65 or 65+. Chatter on the jawbone and chatter on the columns. And I'm not well-versed on the FS definitions but I see breaks. But a nice-looking coin with lots of luster.
66 star (not FS)....the luster and color give it the star; it's fairly clean; the area under the third column prevents 5FS
I'm going to guess MS-65 not full steps. It appears to have great luster, but what appears to be chatter in the field in front of Jefferson's nose and in the field around the MM and hit on the MM keep it at a 65 to me.
Looks like a 67 to me. I think it’s a 66+ that got a color bump to 67. I could also see it in a 66* slab but I know how tough stars are on these although this one does seems to have spectacular luster and I’m sure the toning looks beautiful in hand. Between 67 and 66* I am leaning towards 67. Final answer.
