http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=131229&lotNo=24919#Photo How is something like this a '65? Worse was this http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=131231&lotNo=28297#Photo I look at this and see it as a clear 62.
I think the second link is accurate, i guess it depends on how strict you are, first one is overgraded though imo.
Sorry, you agree with the first My appologies. Although I can't see the the second one should be a 64. A 64 should be problem free with no more than 3 -5 bag marks....hardly a definition that can be applied to the second example.
Possibly the PCGS graded Morgan may have been slid up one grade because it's a Carson City strike, and a GSA Morgan. The NGC graded Morgan, at least 2 points higher than it deserves.
p.s. the first coin in question seems to me to be an example of the CC grade bump -- but remember we're looking at a crappy Heritage photo.
I have no doubt in my mind about that. It is an easy 63. How can they miss by two grades. BTW - in case you wanted to know, ICG will have a table at the Phili show with deals on grading.
We have the following service. For standard grading it will cost yah $39.95 For serious grading, $62.95 For accurate grade, call for pricing.
That's the point to what I stated Ruben. They slid the grade up on that two points because of what the coin is. A Carson City Morgan, and a GSA Hoard Morgan. I'm willing to bet if that dollar was not a GSA coin, it wouldn't have been over-graded like it was, it would have had to hold it's own as a CC Morgan.
