Picked this up at an antique shop today. I hope I did pretty good, paid under $30. Since I'm weak on grading Walkers, I'd like to get some opinions on its grade. Thanks for any help.
Nice coin. Dont wanna throw a grade out there cause there are more people better qualified but its still nice :hail:
it's MS 62 but I am pegging you down a point for that rim bump and the little scratches on the obverse so MS 61
Very nice coin! I can't go any higher than MS62. The reason being is the marks near the T in LIBERTY. Like Zane, I don't see any signs of wear but I could be wrong. Speedy
Very nice, it looks low MS to me. I don't see any signs of wear, but it does have a couple marks. It appears to be a typically weak struck example as many of the 40s walkers are.
I'll add that if you paid under thirty dollars, I wouldn't neccessarily say you got a good deal, but I would say that you got an okay deal in my opinion. Grading companies will put some really marked coins in 63, and even 64 holders. While it wouldn't shock me to see this coin find it's way into a 63 holder, I think 9 times out of ten it would garner a 62 or 61 grade.
I'd guess AU 58 because of apparent high-point rub and luster disturbances, but can understand a low MS grade too. The pics make it hard for me to be confident, though.
