You can't blame that on the boy. There are denarii of Gordian I and II but they never set foot in Rome while emperor so the idea probably belonged to some Senator like Balbinus.

have no denarii, but here are 3 sestertii and 2 of Gordian's Antoniniani.

Gordian III denarii are a bit harder to come by, especially in good condition, than the numerous antoniniani.

    Here are a few

In the second coin from the bottom, Gordian looks rather demented! It's the eyes, I think.

I think he's on something, "Look at all the colors!" Really neat coin.

Not a denarius, but rather one of the more abundant antoniniani bearing the image of Gordian III. Coincidentally this particular coin is what put me on the path of collecting ancient coins.

Now that you mention it, and taking a closer look, I think his eyes have something weird in all of them. Maybe he had an "unusual" look and that is why on the one of barbarous style shown by dougsmit, the eyes are so scary

Late to the party, as I have been traveling.

Since these were so prolific, I have not gotten one. I have a Gordian As.

Sometimes I just like staying off the beaten path... just my style.
