I'm interested in obtaining a 1923 or 24 Gold Chervonet (I understand that only 3 or so '25s remain and they are national treasures to Russia so they're out). Not particulary interested in the 70s & 80s versions.

Does anyone know how much any 23 & 24s have gone for recently? I can only find one reference from the 23 and it seemed much higher than expected.

The gold chervonets was only struck in 1923 and restruck later in 1976-1982. There were none struck in 1924 and only 5 or so were struck in 1925 with the new SSSR letters instead of the former RSFSR.

The 1923 chervonets will cost thousands, the last I remember seeing for sale in XF grade was AT LEAST 2-3 grand. They don't come any cheaper than that unless you are willing to settle for a restrike, which is a lot affordable at about 300USD.

Maybe something interesting for read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_chervonets
