Tell me what you think the final price will be on this 1794 cent. 190134400932. Could someone put this on so that you can just chick on it. thanks
Here's your link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...190134400932_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQfromZR40QQfviZ1 Gimme a few mins and I'll get you an answer...Mike p.s. I am anything but an expert.
I'd say it will go for between $200 and $300, so the $350 bid seems excessive to me. That said, I wouldn't bid on it, as you can find better examples without the cuts (i.e. just corroded) -- this is not a particularly rare coin...Mike
I'm guessing about 450. It is an R-3 variety. Coins in this grade and rarity typically sell for around 250-350 in Heritage/Stack's auctions.
Me too. The coin does have a lot of detail and a good strong date. The strong corrosion and digs just kill it for me, personally. Others are certainly entitled to their opinion and valuation...Mike
I would expect a 1794 Head of 94 Large Cent to bring anywhere from $300-$500 as a problem coin with F-12 details. It really just depends on the severity of the problems. Although the digs are distracting, the corrosion isn't as bad on this coin as on many others, with fully visible details on both the obverse and reverse. I would expect this coin to bring between $400 and $450.
I don't know what is wrong with me right now, perhaps not enough coffee yet, but I like the coin. For some reason it seems to have a lot of character.
No, and the fact that the $350 bid has held up for so long should indicate others don't either. You can do better...Mike
I agree with this opinion. I think the coin will go for between 375-400. I think anybody who has watched Ebay has seen coins jump hundred of dollars in the final minutes. So I would not be suprised to see this coin go for more than 400. One of the problems I have with the early dates is figuring out what is a fair price for what. And problem free coins can get expensive - even in lower grades.
Here's another for Ed to consider: http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot.asp?auction=2405&lot=1003 I'm not fond of Teletrade's return policy, but this coin is clearly superior. Patience in searching out this coin will be rewarded -- they are not uncommon in damaged form, and can be found with small problems in this price range without the deep cuts. Just my opinion...Mike
That is definitely a problem with early coppers, as there can be so many price variations based on surface preservation and the amount of problems a piece has or doesn't have.
Ed, I think that is a prety good purchase for the money. It has its defects, but is an overall appealing coin. If you see what kind of prices similar coins have been bringing on Teletrade and Heritage, I think you will be pleased.
Thankyou Shortgapbob....Can't wait to get it, but I may have to wait two weeks since I mailed him a check today. Ed
