Extreme close ups of mineral encrustations

I got this super macro lens for my iPhone camera.

This Chongning 10-cash has a layer of absolutely beautiful minerals, including malachite, azurite, and possible cuprite.

This sort of thing always reminds me a little of Roman Vishniac's experiments in photomicroscopy beginning in the 1950s (see https://vishniac.icp.org/exhibition...hotomicroscopy-america-early-1950s-late-1970s), although those were mostly photographs of living creatures if I recall correctly.

 

They'd scrape that off copper and make paint out of it, did you know?
