Is this an error cent or is it Post Mint damage? The Rev. has a blab of copper on the steps and the Obv has a blab of copper on the T of Trust. If it is an error, what is it called? thanks Dan
The "blob" on the steps is a normal wear point for the Memorial dies. From the picture, I cannot tell anything about the T in trust, but it might be a cud.
jessash, No, but there appears to be a Lamination crack from the rim through Lincoln's shoulder and head to just left of the first "T" in TRUST. This could explain what happened to the "T" (flawed planchet). Also, there appears to be a crescent shaped Lamination peel (De-Lamination Error) from the rim next to the second "T" in TRUST curving to the rim below the middle of Lincoln's coat. However, I have never seen one with such a perfect crescent shape and wonder if it might man-made! Frank
No! Even if they did, they could not get the outcome that can be seen on the coin. As I stated before, the coin has a flawed planchet which exhibits itself as the bad spots (breaks) in the rim, the Lamination crack and the De-Lamination Error discussed in my' previous post. After copying the pictures to my' PC, doing some editing and zooming in, you can see that these are all Mint Errors due to a severely flawed planchet! See the attached pics. Frank
